Star Boomer has been missing since 1999 and left behind a son and a family that deserve some real, truthful answers. She was 39 at the time of her disappearance, and looking forward to a better future for herself and her son.
According to reports, Star Boomer was last seen during an altercation in a local bar. By all accounts there were approximately a dozen witnesses who saw Star beaten to unconsciousness and dragged from the bar. Coincidentally, one of the patrons in the bar that night was convicted of murdering his missing wife, and her body has yet to be found.
Sources say that Star did not drink much while at the bar. She got involved when another woman was being physically assaulted by another patron. Star was the only one to step up to help the woman.
Investigators state that it is believed that Star was killed in the bar and her body was dumped elsewhere. Two men were arrested and charged with second degree murder, but were later released and charges dismissed because witnesses refused to testify. It became a case with no body, no crime scene evidence, and no witnesses willing to come forward.
“Until the day we find closure and justice for her, I can’t give up and I have to be a voice for Star,” said sister Cynthia Hurtie.
“I believe we will find her. I really believe that. I’ve never given up hope,” said Hazel Hurtie, Star’s mother.
She dreamed of one day living on a farm and watching her son enjoy the warmth of a day, tending her beautiful garden and caring for a variety of animals. Most importantly to watch her son grow to be a man.Star was a florist at heart, who loved flower arranging, she created beautiful arrangements and wreaths andwon awards for her creations at local craft shows. She nearly completed her GED and had plans to further her education. She was a warm hearted soul that would offer her hand to others and make it a point to bring a smile, even when times were troubled.
Star grew up not far from the bar. She was going through a divorce at the time, but remained optimistic. She was planning to move to Spring Hill to live with her parents until she could get back on her feet. She was hopeful for a better future.
