Details of Disappearance: Monica and her younger brother, Michael, were last seen at Heritage Apartments in the 5700 block of Altama Avenue in Brunswick, Georgia on June 21, 1989. The children’s stepfather was separated from their mother at the time, and Michael and Monica went to help him move into another apartment. Monica and Michael’s stepfather claims he dropped them off at their mother’s home afterwards, but they have never been heard from again.
The Bennett siblings’ stepfather moved to Alabama days after their disappearances. Authorities initially believed Michael and Monica ran away, but now foul play is suspected in their cases. Monica was close to her older sister, although they did not live together. In 2005 Monica and Michael’s cases were reclassified as endangered missing. Little evidence is available in their disappearances, which remain unsolved.
