Details of Disappearance: On December 30, 1999, Lauria Jaylene Bible and her friend, Ashley Renae Freeman, were reported to be missing. At approximately 6:00 a.m., a fire was reported at a residence located four and one half miles west of Welch, Oklahoma, in northeast Oklahoma. The bodies of Ashley’s parents, both of whom had been shot, were found inside the residence. The two girls, both age 16, were reported to be inside the residence before the fire, but have not been located.
In January 2005, suspected serial killer Jeremy Jones confessed to killing Ashley Freeman and Lauria Bible. Jones told authorities he killed Ashley’s parents over an unpaid debt, and then set their house on fire. When the two girls ran out of the house, Jones says he pretended he was going to get them help. Instead, he drove them to Kansas, then shot them and dumped their bodies in a hole. Investigators say they’ll search for the girls’ bodies in a mine near Galena, Kansas the week of June 20th 2005.
