Distinguishing Characteristics: Scars, Marks, Tattoos: African American male. Jamaree has a split on his right earlobe. He may have a mole behind his left ear.
Details of Disappearance: Jamar’ee and his mother, Cheryl Lewrisey Coleman, visited her brother’s residence during the early morning hours of July 24, 1993 in Brunswick, Georgia. Cheryl and Jamar’ee left the house at approximately 3:00 AM. Her brother offered to give them a ride back to their home, but Cheryl chose to walk. The two were last seen alive at a gas station on Newcastle and O Streets where they got into a pickup truck driven by Carl Harris, an acquaintance of Cheryl’s.
Harris took them to a wooded area on Homer Wilson Way on Andrews Island, where he killed Cheryl Coleman, he later confessed to police. Her remains were found on the bank near Academy Creek next to her infant son’s empty baby carrier. Under questioning, Harris told authorities that he left the baby laying beside the creek.
Harris pled guilty to three counts of malice murder. He is serving a life sentence without parole for the murder of Coleman, Jamar’ee, and Essie May Dowdy, another acquaintance of Harris, who was found dead in Greenwood Cemetery.
