Todd Bower, Founder & Executive Director of Critical Reach, a nonprofit partner to law enforcement with the APBnet Law Enforcement Alert System.
Presentation Title: Prepare To Save A Life
Critical Reach is a N. California based nonprofit partner to law enforcement. Founded in 1995 in the aftermath of the Polly Klaas abduction and murder, Critical Reach partnered with HP and AT&T to develop APBnet, technology for law enforcement that enables an immediate and effective response when a child is in danger.
Twenty-five years later and in its fifth generation of technology, APBnet is utilized by over 1,400 police agencies, including a statewide deployment in New Jersey. APBnet enables officers to create photo bulletins and distribute them electronically to the precise recipients desired for each unique case—other police agencies and the community when desired. Real-time officer-to-officer communications across jurisdictional lines has proven to save lives, enhance officer safety, and build safer communities.
Mr. Bower will detail a new program developed in conjunction with FBI CARD (Child Abduction Rapid Deployment) Teams that makes this immediate response system available to police agencies nationwide at no cost. This program provides an exceptional partnership opportunity for CUE Center volunteers to help establish a needed local solution before the next life is in danger.
