Police do not have a body, murder weapon, or confession, but they believe they do have the killers of a Spartanburg man.
Darryl “Preach” Miller disappeared in July of 2005. He was last seen in the South Church Street area. “We searched tirelessly and we have not found anything,“ Captain Randy Hardy said.
Investigators never found Miller’s body but they say they did find enough evidence to arrest two men. “We got statements that support this. We got blood DNA evidence that supports that,“ Hardy said. Police say found blood inside a vehicle of an acquaintance of one of the murder suspects.
Police arrested David Carson of Inman and Leon Jones of Spartanburg for the murder of Miller. Investigators believe the two men shot Miller to death in the Caulder Avenue area. Caulder Avenue is about a mile from where Miller was last seen on South Church Street. They say the motive was robbery.
Family and friends of Miller aren’t sure if the arrests bring them any closer to closure. “To find him and have a gravesite for him that will give them peace,“ Daisy Rice said. Rice has known the family for years. “To not tell where the body is? That is still not closure for his mama or two sisters. They need closure,“ she said.
The investigation continues and Spartanburg Public safety is asking anyone with information to call 58-CRIME or Text TIP649 to CRIMES (274637).
