Missing from: Montgomery, Vermont
Missing: March 19, 2004
Age at disappearance: 17
Date Of Birth: 10/08/86
Height: 5′ 4″
Weight: 105-118 lbs.
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Hazel

Distinguishing Characteristics: Scars, Marks, Tattoos: Caucasian female. Brianna has a faint scar extending from her left eyebrow to her forehead. Her left nostril is pierced; she wore a small ring or stud in it at the time of her disappearance. She wears contact lenses, but they were left behind when she vanished. Brianna’s nicknames are Bri and B.

Details of Disappearance: Brianna was last seen at her dishwashing job at the Black Lantern Inn in Montgomery, Vermont, between 11:20 p.m. and midnight on March 19, 2004. Her coworkers asked her to have dinner with them, but she declined because she was tired and had to get up early to go her second job as a waitress in St. Albans, Vermont. She left work and was supposed to go home to where she lived with a friend in Sheldon, Vermont. She never arrived and her friend assumed she had moved back in with her parents and brother in East Franklin, Vermont. The friend called Brianna’s parents on March 23 and found out she wasn’t there, and reported her missing. Two of Brianna’s uncashed paychecks were on the front seat of the car. She also left behind all her clothing, her medicine, driver’s license, her makeup, and her contact lenses. Some of her belongings were strewn on the ground in front of the car. A woman’s fleece jacket was found in a field near Brianna’s car, but it apparently did not belong to her.

Missing From: Haverhill, New Hampshire
Missing: February 9, 2004
Age at Disappearance: 21
Height: 5′ 7″
Weight: 120
Hair: Light brown
Eyes: Blue/Green

Distinguishing Characteristics: Scars, Marks, Tattoos: Caucasian female. Dimples in both cheeks; scar on right calf. Dentals: Available DNA: Available

Details of Disappearance: Some time after 7:00 pm, a Woodsville, New Hampshire, resident heard a loud thump outside of her house. Through her window she could see a car up against the snowbank along Route 112, also known as Wild Ammonoosuc Road. The car pointed west on the eastbound side of the road. She telephoned the Grafton County Sheriff’s Department at 7:27 pm to report the accident. At about the same time another neighbor saw the car as well as someone walking around the vehicle. She witnessed a third neighbor pull up alongside the vehicle. That neighbor, a school bus driver returning home, noticed the young woman was not bleeding but cold and shivering. He offered to telephone for help. She asked him not to call the police (one police report says “pleaded”) and assured him she’d already called AAA. (AAA has no record of any such call.)

Knowing there was no cell phone reception in the area, the bus driver continued home and phoned the police. His call was received by the Sheriff’s Department at 7:43 pm. He was unable to see Maura’s car while he made the phone call but did notice several cars pass on the road before the police arrived. At 7:46 pm, a Haverhill police officer arrived at the scene. No one was inside or around the car. The car’s windshield was cracked on the driver’s side and both airbags had deployed. The car was locked. Inside and outside the car he discovered red stains that looked to be red wine. The officer found a damaged box of Franzia wine on the rear seat.

In addition, he found a AAA card issued to Maura Murray, blank crash report forms, gloves, compact discs, makeup, two sets of MapQuest driving directions (one to Burlington, Vermont, another to Stowe, Vermont), Maura’s favorite stuffed animal, and Not Without Peril, a book about mountain climbing in the White Mountains. Missing were Maura’s debit card, credit cards, and cell phone, none of which have been located or used since her disappearance.

At 8:00 to 8:30 pm, a contractor returning home from Franconia saw a young person moving quickly on foot eastbound on Route 112 about 4 to 5 miles (6 to 8 km) east of where Maura’s vehicle was discovered. He noted that the young person was wearing jeans, a dark coat, and a light-colored hood. He didn’t report it to police immediately due to his own confusion of dates, only discovering three months later (when reviewing his work records) that he’d spotted the young person the same night Maura disappeared.

Just before 8:00 pm, EMS and a fire truck arrived to clear the scene. By 8:49 pm, the car had been towed to a local garage. At about 9:30 pm, the responding officer left. A rag believed to have been part of Maura’s emergency roadside kit was discovered stuffed into the Saturn’s muffler pipe. Authorities would only refer to Maura as missing the next day, almost twenty-four hours after she was last seen.

Missing from: Weymouth, Massachusetts
Missing: June 20, 2000
Age at disappearance: 30
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Height: 6′ 1″
Weight: 110

Distinguishing Characteristics: Scars, Marks, Tattoos: Caucasian female. Tattoo of a “rose” on right shoulder with the name “Louie” underneath. Her ears are pierced. Jewelry Diamond ring and ring with the name Debbie” worn on index finger.

Details of Disappearance: Debra was last seen in Weymouth, Massachusetts between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. on June 20, 2000. Her husband, Luis Melo, claims they got into an argument while he was driving and she demanded to be let out of the car Route 18, south of the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station.
Luis says he drove a couple of miles down the road, then came back about twenty minutes later to the site where he dropped her off, but Debra was gone. Luis did not report Debra missing for one to three days (accounts differ). She has never been heard from again.
Her family says they had a troubled relationship and Debra had gotten an emergency restraining order against him in 1996, stating in court documents that Luis had threatened to harm himself or her or both of them if she tried to leave him. The order was lifted after only two weeks, however. Debra and Luis had been married for fourteen years by 2000, and she was reportedly considering divorce at the time of her disappearance.
Luis failed a lie detector test about Debra’s disappearance. Police have not called him a suspect in Debra’s case, but they have publicly wondered why he does not take a more active role in looking for her. Luis has not participated in any searches for Debra. Investigators state that his behavior and attitude is not consistent with that of a grieving husband.
He has not been charged in connection with her case, however, and police could not find any evidence as to her fate in his car. Luis maintains his innocence in Debra’s disappearance and stated he believed she was still alive. He was later convicted of assaulting his girlfriend and sentenced to probation. He has since remarried.
Debra’s family states that she was a devoted mother and it would be uncharacteristic for her for willingly abandon her two children. They believe she is deceased. Debra and Luis managed a Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant in Braintee, Massachusetts in 2000. Her disappearance is considered suspicious and her case remains unsolved.

October 15, 2008
ST. PETERSBURG – If a civilian investigator had not stopped by a gas station one day last year, authorities might never have learned what happened to a 20-year-old single mother who vanished 28 years ago.

At the station the investigator, Brenda Stevenson, spotted a poster put up by the friends and family of , who disappeared while walking the few blocks from her home to her boyfriend’s place in July of 1980.

Stevenson said she noticed an uncanny resemblance between the picture on the poster and a composite sketch based on skeletal remains that were found eight years later in a park miles away. The remains were found March 2, 1989, in Maximo Park, wrapped up in carpet.

Stevenson knew DNA from the bones had been sent to the FBI, and she knew DNA from Harder’s mother and daughter had been sent to the FBI. She called the FBI in June, when she saw the poster, and she’s been calling them once a month ever since, asking that they compare the two DNA samples.

On Thursday, she was told there was a match.

Harder was living at 2136 23rd Ave. N. when she was reported missing on July 27, 1980, police said.

The night before, she and her sister-in-law decided to go out while Harder’s ex-husband watched over her three young children, police said. Later on, the pair returned, but Harder decided to walk by herself from her home to her boyfriend’s home at 17th Street and 20th Avenue North, police said.

She never made it there.

Her remains were found at the park at 6500 34th St. S., which is at the other end of town, police said. A bulldozer clearing heavy brush from an area in the park uncovered a carpet rolled up containing skeletal remains of a woman, police said.

Although there were no signs of trauma to the remains, the medical examiner’s office concluded the cause of death to be homicidal violence, police said. The manner of death was undetermined.

Before she went to the gas station, Stevenson, who started working cold cases at the police department two years ago, had asked for a list of women reported missing in Pinellas County for the 10-year period leading up to the discovery of the bones. Harder’s name wasn’t on the list.

There are no suspects.

St. Petersburg police are asking that anyone with information on Harder’s death to call them at (727) 893-7780 or the confidential tip line at (727) 892-5000.
She had recently completed the fifth grade at Stahl Elementary and was enjoying her summer with family and friends. On Saturday, 08-04-1990, Heidi disappeared while returning home from spending the night with one of her friends. She had left the friends house on foot and was last seen walking west on Stahl Road. A massive search ensued, however, she was not located. On 08-25-1990 Heidi’s body was discovered by a land owner along a county road in a rural area outside of Wimberly, Texas in Hays County. An autopsy determined her manner of death to be homicide.
