FLORENCE, Ky. —
Crystal Warner’s remains have been found, according to a Kentucky coroner.
The Bath County coroner said that the missing woman’s remains were identified through dental records.
Warner, 35, and her boyfriend Bobby Jones, 28, vanished July 3.
Their tenant, Craig Pennington, is accused of killing them after a confrontation about unpaid rent.
Jones’ body was found just off an Interstate 64 exit ramp in Clark County, Kentucky, in August.
Kentucky State Police said Warner’s remains were found off the Salt Lick exit of Interstate 64 in central Kentucky Monday afternoon. Investigators said the operator of a bulldozer found a skull and some personal items under a brush pile on private property.
Warner’s mother posted a thank you message on Facebook Thursday confirming the remains were her daughter’s.
The family now knows they will soon be able to bring Warner home.
“I know where she’s at. In heaven. But it’s still hard to let them go,” Mary Reeve said.
So many emotions were unleashed with the confirmation.
“I don’t know for me if in my heart anything will ever be closed because I’m always going to miss her every day and think of her,” Reeve said.
Reeve can’t understand why Pennington, her daughter’s tenant, would kill Warner and Jones.
He’s accused of killing them in July.
Crystal’s parents said they’ve found eviction documents Pennington signed in May.
“He just had it in his mind that he was going to go ahead and kill them. You know, it’s almost like it was premeditated. And I believe it was,” Reeve said.
The couple’s car was found near Georgetown.
Details of Disappearance:
Crystal and her boyfriend, Bobby Jones, went missing on July 3, 2016, after they went to Washington County to talk to Craig Pennington, who was renting a cabin from Bobby Jones, outside of Springfield. According to Bobby’s family, the couple had been in the area visiting family, but stopped in Springfield because Pennington who “had been evicted for not paying rent for several months had not returned calls or been in contact with Bobby in weeks”. No one heard from them after stopping at Pennington’s house. One month later, on August 5th, 2016, Bobby’s remains were discovered by people collecting aluminum cans for recycling, alongside Goshen Road, at the intersection with U.S. 60 near Winchester. The location is near exit 101 just off Interstate 64. The couple’s car was found off Interstate 75 in Scott County in July.
Craig Pennington was charged with two counts of murder for both Bobby Jones and Crystal Warner, however, Crystal has never been found.
