Destiny was just 21 when her life was cut short on February 7, 2013. She was gunned down in in her home. She died of a single gunshot wound to her torso. Kokomo police continue investigating the senseless slaying. They think two intruders forced their way into Destiny’s home that she shared with her boyfriend and roommate at around 9:30 p.m. that evening. Once inside her house, police believe Destiny confronted the intruders and they fired a single gunshot, striking her in the chest, she died at the scene. Police reported Destiny’s female roommate and her roommate’s two children were in the home at the time of the shooting, but were not injured.
Her mother said that not knowing who and why Destiny was killed bothers her every day. Her mother said that Destiny’s two pit bulls and a chihuahua also were in the house when the shooting occurred. “If the dogs don’t know you, they would attack you,” Destiny’s stepfather, Steve McCombs said. “They were very protective of her.”
Destiny’s family, friends and the Kokomo Police Department seek answers and her family struggles to move on.
